Brand-Specific Shoe Size Guidelines

The following are some very general tips on shoes and sizing. Sizing can vary greatly from designer to designer and sizing is not always consistent within a specific designer/style. If you are not sure of your sizing in a specific designer/shoe, it is always best to ask the any questions before purchasing online or try the item(s) on if you are within driving distance of Couture. If you are still unsure, measure a pair of shoes that fit you properly and ask for measurements of the shoes you like. Though we do not include measurements in individual listings online, we will provide measurements if requested. Hopefully you find this useful…
Here are some sizing observations/considerations based on past experience:
Runs small or narrow:
Alexander McQueen: McQueen's with a pointy front tend to run small. Most times it would be recommended to purchase one half size larger than your usual US sizing. The open toe or wider front tend to run true to size.
Chanel: Chanel shoes tend to run half to a full size smaller than US sizes.
Christian Lacroix: Lacroix's tend to run narrow in most styles and have very irregular sizing from shoe to shoe. Lacroix's can run from very small (up to a size and a half small, to true to size). Most times it would be recommended to purchase one half size larger than your usual US size.
Dolce & Gabbana (D & G): D&G's run a half size small from EUR sizing to US sizing. Example: a 39 would be a US 8.5
Emilio Pucci: Pucci's are recommended to be purchased one half size larger than your usual US size.
Jean Paul Gaultier: Gaultier's run very small. Most times, purchase a full size larger than your usual US size.
Jimmy Choo: Consider a half size up from US size.
Manolo Blahnik: Manolo's tend to run small/narrow depending on the style. Most times it would be recommended to purchase a half size larger than your usual US size.
Pedro Garcia: Garcia's tend to run small. Most times it would be recommended to purchase at least a half size larger than your usual US size.
Roberto Cavalli: Cavalli's can run anywhere from true to size to a full size small. Usually the higher the incline the smaller they run, but they can vary from style to style. Most times it would be recommended to purchase one half size larger than your usual US size.
Taryn Rose: Taryn's run a half size small. It’s recommended to buy a half size larger than your usual US size.
True to Size:
- Chloe
- Christian Louboutin: suede styles run large and may warrant a size smaller.
- Dolce & Gabbana
- Donna Karan Collection
- Gianfranco Ferre
- Guiseppe Zanotti
- Marc Jacobs
- Prada: sometimes a bit big, but not enough to need to size down.
- Versace: sometimes a bit big, but not enough to need to size down.
- Vivienne Westwood
Runs large/big:
Fiorentini & Baker: The biker style boots tend to run a half size to a full size large. More conventional styles, including wedges, tend to run true, but Fiorentini has very inconsistent sizing.
