When it comes to piecing together a casual ensemble, a belt is the ideal accessory for the get-up-and-go fashionista. Trying to find the perfect belt size however, can be a bit confusing especially when trying to understand European measurements. To help find the perfect fit, we've put together a short belt sizing guide including a easy-to-read size conversion chart!

Determining Your Belt Size

The first step in finding your belt size is measuring the circumference of your waist. This can be done simply by starting at the center button of your pants and wrapping a tape measure around your waist back to the center. When measuring around the waist, we recommend looping the tape measure through your pant loops to get the most accurate waist measurement to determine belt size. Although European belts are sized in centimeters, your waist measurements can be taken in inches or centimeters.

Understanding Belt Size Measurements

Once you've recorded your waist measurements, you can then determine your accommodating belt size. The diagram above illustrates the areas of which the measurements are recorded, "A" being the beginning of the belt (not including the buckle), "B" being the middle belt loop. As previously mentioned, European belt sizes are measured in centimeters, however, major brands that are popular in the US like Gucci, Prada, and Chanel will include the size converted into inches. For example, if a belt is sized at 44/110, these numbers reflect the approximate measurements of the belt in inches/centimeters.

Converting Waist Measurements To Belt Sizes

Above is a quick conversion reference chart to help you find your perfect fit. As inches are not typically converted into whole numbers as centimeters, it is recommended to round up to the nearest whole number to get the most accurate fit. Another quick point of reference to finding your belt size if you don't have a tape measure handy is to simply add 2 inches to your pant size. For example, if you wear are a size 30, it is likely that your belt size is about 32 in inches.     We hope that this quick guide to Italian belt sizing serves you well on the hunt for your next statement-making accessory!
